kern.maxfiles: 1064
kern.maxfilesperproc: 1064

RLIMIT for root for open files is 1064. 

So why would I not be able to open more than 64 sockets? what am I 
missing? sorry to put such a stupid question to this list :-=(
I have also bumped the max number of network connections to 1064 ...

Version is:
FreeBSD 3.0-CURRENT #0: Tue Dec  1 19:09:02 EST 1998
