I'm having a bit of trouble figuring this out; The motherboard (ASUS
K7V) supports SB emulation, but I cannot get it to work. I've tried pcm,
pcm0, csa0, and sbc0.

I'm also a bit confused with the layout of the source of 4.0-R. Where is
newpcm living?
