Hi
I have exactly the same situation cause I'm running the X server on x86
machine :-)

To : port maintainer: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE remove forcing the dependency
on Hermes library from port collection there are already a dozen of ports
depending
on it. They all not gonna work.
There are a lot of non x86 based computer around
let them a chance;-)
