Put quite simply, BSD ain't Windows.  They are two different operating
systems, offering two different domains of functionality.  I use both,
because I require features from both domains.  Some only use Windows,
because its features are sufficient for their needs.  Some only use UNIX,
because its features span THEIR needs.

The same argument has been made for trucks and cars.

You DID make a backup, didn't you?   Prevention is simple, though:  
Don't do any partitioning on ata0s1.  ;-)
