Support for Video Cards is from X, rather than from FreeBSD, and the Radeon
VE is certainly supported, since I used to run a Radeon VE Dual Display
Edition 32MB (VGA+DVI+TV out) under XFree86 4.1 before I got my 8500.

What kind of Monitor do you have plugged in, and what port are you using?
