If compiling/installing the app. is where you're having a problem, try 
freebsd-ports and freebsd-questions. (Just cc the message to both lists.) 
However, if you're having problems running the program, you should ask in 
the appropriate list or forum for that software. (You can get a complete 
list of freebsd mailing lists from: 
http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo .)

Also, if it turns out the port is broken, follow the advice given at: 
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ports-broken.html
