I'll second this.
I'm running 3.3R/PAO3 on a Toshiba 4030CDT w/ a 3c589c,
and experienced very poor throughput with the kernel & pccard.conf
pointing to "irq 9".
Moving it to another free irq (irq 5) seemed to clear it right up.

BTW, I seem to recall Lehey writing in The Complete FreeBSD that
irq can't be compiled in the kernel, but doesn't elaborate.
Why does he make that claim ?

(I'll be seeing if a new Adaptec 1460D does any better on that supposedly
free irq to drive a SCSI scanner).
