No that is wrong.  contrib/awk and contrib/one-true-awk are totally
different authors.  One did not replace the other out in the world, only
w/in BSD.  IF we had imported 'djbdns' you would be right.  In this case
BIND version 9 is the vendors direct replacement for BIND version 8.
