Sorry, no ideas, but I get the same behaviour here with 4.0.1. I'm running
a recent (about 1 week old) 4-STABLE, and my mouse is a MS Intellimouse
Explorer, with moused running (i.e. SysMouse protocol). I've tried running
without moused (i.e. USB mouse protocol), but the result is the same -
when I go back into X after having been in a virtual console, the mouse
is frozen (rest of X seems to work, though).

I guess this is what the bleeding edge is about...
