Type:

   % su
   Password:  <enter root password>
   % route add default <address>

To make it permanent, edit /etc/sysconfig as root, look for the lines
that say

   # Set to the host you'd like set as your default router, or NO for none.
   defaultrouter=NO

and change it to

   # Set to the host you'd like set as your default router, or NO for none.
   defaultrouter=<address>

where <address> is the gateway address.
