Yes (with a CS423x-PCI soundcard - as reported by dmesg).  XMMS 1.0 worked
fine but after I deinstalled it and installed the latest XMMS 1.2 the
effect you mention started happening.  I mostly use x11amp so I didn't
look into the problem.
