I'm not sure what the problem is with registering a FreeBSD machine
on thier network, is there a specific policy against it?

Do you have a URL to this policy?  It'd be pretty nice to see it
up on slashdot if it's some form of 'super-evil MIS dept gone insane'
type situation.
