I got the same compile error, for what it's worth.
I patched around it (patch available on request)... but vmware dies with

VMware Workstation PANIC: BUG F(571):1607 bugNr=2302

Which is what it did originally, that caused me to rebuild it.  Guess
I'll have to backlevel my system....
