ok, so I was smoking things again, gotta lay off that stuff.  :) Thanks to all 
who've replied; I'll give the jail thing a shot, it seems the easiest and, 
well, it's you Kris.  :)

Would an entry about this for the Porters Handbook be useful?  I'd be willing 
to write or assist in writing such a beast, once I've got a process down.  (Or 
should I take this to freebsd-doc?)
