That's not completely correct.  While there isn't in the RELENG_4
(-STABLE) branch, there is in HEAD (-CURRENT).

You have two options.  1) install -CURRENT and fight through the
frequent bugs and instability (after all, it *is* the development
branch) and maybe use your card, or 2) buy a non-cardbus card and run
-RELEASE or -STABLE like a good FreeBSD newbie should so they can get
the help they need :-)
