Since yahoo is web based email, and you want it to work on a text terminal I recommend that you download /usr/ports/www/w3m. It is a text base web browser and should be able to give you what you want. mail(1) is a program that works with sendmail and if you are not going to get the emails delivered to your FreeBSD machine, it will not accomplish what you want.
