If you supply the model number and the sp# of the presario it would be
an asset.  Probably worth a gander at the Compaq support website as well
to trouble shoot what could makw this unavailable.

What selection did you make for the NIC in the installation
configuration?

My suspicion would be that the nic installed is at aan unconventional
IRQ and I/O setting that is making it unavailable to FreeBSD's Static
ISA NIC settings.
