It triggers both with and without softupdates. The pr for this bugreport is kern/16740. No response to it yet, discounting the persons bitten by this bug who mails me to ask if there is a fix for the problem. There is someone who claims to have a test the reliably can reproduce the bug on a "range of hardware" (his words).
