It might be interesting to know that a chip labeled "CT2518" is in fact a ES1371: freebie#cat sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Jun 23 2000 19:49:06 Installed devices: pcm0: <AudioPCI ES1371> at io 0xe000 irq 11 (1p/1r channels duplex) and bootmessage: pcm0: <AudioPCI ES1371> port 0xe000-0xe03f irq 11 at device 13.0 on pci0 I can play CDs, xmixer can controle the volume etc without problems. But as far as playing sound goes, using either Fxtv or mpeg2player: no sound whatsoever. /dev looks ok to my untrained eye: freebie#ls -l audio* mixer* snd* sequencer* dsp* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 6 Jun 24 15:44 audio -> audio0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 30, 4 Jun 24 16:22 audio0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 4 Jun 24 15:44 dsp -> dsp0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 30, 3 Jun 24 16:08 dsp0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 5 Jun 24 15:44 dspW -> dspW0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 30, 5 Jun 24 15:44 dspW0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 6 Jun 24 15:44 mixer -> mixer0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 30, 0 Jun 24 15:44 mixer0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 10 Jun 24 15:44 sequencer -> sequencer0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 30, 1 Jun 24 15:44 sequencer0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 30, 6 Jun 24 15:44 sndstat I'll try to figure out what is wrong, but in the meantime suggestions are welcome. -- Wilko Bulte http://www.freebsd.org "Do, or do not.
