It's a case of "it's been broken for almost a year, but no one noticed because it hasn't been used for several years". libkvm's use of /dev/drum has been replaced by use of procfs (*), and nothing else seems to have used /dev/drum for several^2 years. (*) If procfs is not mounted, or otherwise unavailable (e.g. for ps on dead kernels), then libkvm's use of swapfiles has been broken without replacement.
