Try to set it up in the Adaptec BIOS as a slow 5Mbyte drive
and async only. The problems you are seeing may be caused from mixing
very old cruft ( Rodime, SCSI I? ) with new fast drives Seagate ST31230N
is a fast, synchronous 10Mbyte drive.
