(sorry for the cross posting)

after some more - and long - testing this is what i have:

if the card is 'virgin' - no pxe, flash memory 'empty', all seems ok, dhclient
works ok.

if i enable PXE, running it as diskless is fine (i don't need dhclient).
but if i boot of the disk and use dhclient, then it does not work - arp
requests are sent and replies come back, but never make it.

if i just ifconfig em0 ip.addr then all is ok.

using an older if_em ver 1.1.10, dhclient works fine.

btw, after the card has been pxe enabled, disabling the flash memory does
not help, i can't get it back to work as it did in 'virgin' mode.

one more thing, one 'virgin' card is causing panic with bad ram.
