With DOS? No way unless you have a PLIP driver for DOS.
This is how I understand it doing FreeBSD<->FreeBSD:
If you have an interrupt-driven parallel port (all parallel ports are
interrupt-driven by default) then the lpt driver creates a network device
lp? that corresponds to the lpt port. All you need is a parallel
crossover cable ("laplink" or "interlink" cable). Then ifconfig the
device just like you would an ethernet device, with an ip address and all
that. That should establish the connection.
