Hi there I am not part of the FreeBSD mailing list, if replys could please be mailed to : jim@nospam.saca.net (remove nospan to mail) Superprobe outputs the Follow (correct) information: First Video: Super-VGA Chipset: S3 Savage4 (PCI Probed) Memory: 32768 Kbytes RAMDAC: Generic 8-bit pseudo-color DAC (with 6-bit wide lookup tables (or in 6-bit mode)) I cannot find this card (S3 86C395 / 396 / 397 ) in any of the setups - namely XF86Setup or xf86config . The card gives a lower-than-hurcules-monochrome clock of 25.18 , which I am SURE is not right. When starting X however, I get this output.......... <----------snip---------> (--) SVGA: PCI: S3 Savage4 rev 2, Memory @ 0xf8000000, 0xe0000000 (--) SVGA: Unknown S3 chipset: chip_id = 0x8a22 rev. 2 (--) SVGA: chipset: generic (--) SVGA: videoram: 64K <-- Even when 32768K doesn't work! (**) SVGA: clocks: 25.18 (**) SVGA: Using 8 bpp, Depth 8, Color weight: 666 (--) SVGA: Using builtin driver modes (--) SVGA: Builtin Mode: 320x200 (--) SVGA: Virtual resolution set to 320x204 (--) SVGA: SpeedUp code selection modifed because Virtual X !=1024 <----------snip---------> I am rather new to FreeBSD, so please be gentle.
