Hello, I'm new to DocBook/FDP and I've put together pages to replace the ones at http://www.freebsd.org/java/, which have not been updated in a while. It would be nice to have anyone review the pages (details are attached below). The only problems I have had in transforming to HTML thus far are: 1. &man.command.section doesn't build links, it just builds plaintext. Here is what I have set in book.sgml: <!DOCTYPE book PUBLIC "-//FreeBSD//DTD DocBook V4.1-Based Extension//EN" [ <!ENTITY % man PUBLIC "-//FreeBSD//ENTITIES DocBook Manual Page Entities//EN"> %man; ... ]> 2. I haven't figured out how to include a footer with a "Last modified" date/time stamp based on the source .sgml mtime. 3. I couldn't get <link> tags to work with id's set inside of <para>. 4. There were a few places I would have liked to insert a <hr> on the output. It looks that DocBook doesn't support this, however I am curious if there are solutions. 5. <orderedlist> <itemizedlist> numbers and bullets format strange on Konqueror browsers (the number/bullet is shifted up slightly from the <listitems>) ... otherwise everything else on Konqueror looks better vs. Mozilla 1.0. 6. I wanted some more control over how <sect3> <sect4> <sect5> get laid out. I wanted to have <sect3>'s build as separate pages with indexes of <sect4> and <sect5>'s nested underneath but was unsure how to do this ... so I was forced to flatten the document structure out at <sect2> whenever possible. As an aside, I used JEdit 4.0 [ /usr/ports/editors/jedit ] to build these pages and did so rather easily. I would recommend this editor for anyone who has not tried it. Appreciate your help. I have transformed the preview version into HTML. I would like volunteers to do basic fact-checking and give me their opinions on where the docs can use improvement. Specifically, contributions are needed in the following areas, in order of importance: 1. Adding items to the FAQ (I know I missed some). 2. Filling out the "Known Issues" portion of the Release Info sections ... I know there are open issues currently. 3. Authors for the following articles: 3a. Basics of setting up a Java environment 3b. Basics of running and troubleshooting Java applications 3c. Benchmarks (ones that we can legally publish) 4. Artists needed for a logo and other decorations. Primarily, it would be nice to have a Project logo for the index page. Probably nothing bigger than 300 x 300, royalty-free. Vector graphics need to be in EPS format, and bitmaps in PNG.
