 I can not figure how it's a configuration problem.  After initial =
 installation, or recompiling the kernel, KDE starts with no problem.  It =
 is a progressive problem in that,  with use, it takes longer and longer =
 to get the X-Server to initiate.  The command line error message is "The =
 D_Cop server is failing self-test".

 It seems that I have several options: (1) go back to my antiquated =
 machine, (2) Install some version of Linux, or (3) Revert to one of =
 Redmond's offerings, none of which are appealing. =20
