it isn't an "algorithm" rather a total restructuring of the kernel.
freebsd wouldn't be "BSD" anymore if it adopted the same path as sun.

that's why there is no more "sunos" just solaris, sunos was a BSD
kernel, while solaris was a resturctured blend of BSD and SRV4.
