Since you seem to have gotten several flames over your subject line, I won't
be hard on you (oops, pun intended)
Look like the first password might be DES. The second one is definitely MD5
(note the $1$).
Perhaps the DES stuff didn't get included when you did your upgrade. I'd
start investigating there...
