The multiple emacs ports are all quite different if you use multibyte
character sets.

As for the rest of them (semi/wemi/flim/apel...), they are not emacs
but are support libraries (for lack of better term) to handle
character input, MIME support, etc.

Making a new category might be a good idea at this point though.  More
than half of "editors" seems to be occupied by emacsen and their
buddies.
