 No, you're not special; note the past tense in my reply.  In FreeBSD,
 fetch supported proxies and http before ftp did.  In 1994, bsd.port.mk
 used ncftp, which was a pain to maintain.  It switched to fetch in 1996.
 The NetBSD ftp(1) was ported in 1997.
