Yup, I have had the problem for some 4-6 weeks. I just finishing =
getting all
the
sources fresh. Still references smp.h wich does not exist.
I really would like to generate a new kernel.
I am using -stable

Nope.  I just cvsup'ed and compiled a GENERIC kernel.
