Ask Mike ;) : :DES :-- :Dag-Erling Smorgrav - des@flood.ping.uio.no At the moment I'm doing -j16 buildworlds with MFS mounted /usr/obj, NFS swap, NFS mounted /usr/src, and artificially limited main memory (32MB). The machine goes totally nuts compiling the perl stuff, paging in and paging out simultaniously at > 1 MByte/sec in each direction. But it slogs through it. Pretty soon I'm going to start experimenting with NFS-file-backed VN-mounted filesystems & combo NFS and IDE swap to better test the swap and vnode pagers under extreme load conditions. -Matt Matthew Dillon <dillon@backplane.com> To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-current" in the body of the message
