But yes, you should try 5.3-BETA6, as one of the changes to bge(4) may fix things. bge is also part of GENERIC, so you shouldn't need to build a custom kernel. It's also possible that HPaq gave the 5705 a different VenID or DevID, which would prevent the driver from detecting. They've been known to do it in the past. -ksaihr
