You can also use sysinstall to upgrade in a piecemeal fashion with
the "custom" install and "custom" distributions.  Of course, this
puts a greater burden on the user to handle details (eg. copy /etc/
to a temp location before installing the "bin" dist) and to make
sure that things are sufficiently synchronized on their own machine.
