That MODE SENSE command is likely a part of probing the device for being
read-only.  kern.cam.da.disable_wp_detection=3D1 should disable it if neede=
d.=20
But as I see CAM should ignore errors of that command.  Does it fail after =
it
specifically, or it is the device wedge after it somehow?
