You could create a rule, that for example, allowed the ENTIRE block of IP's that your ISP uses in thier dhcp pool. Or call your isp and have them change the expire date on you ip lease to infinite. I have a cable modem via cablevision. And I have had the same ip of almost a year. The only reason they might not do it, is because they do not want you host a website, with a static ip. The reason, is obvoius, in that, it is Adsl and the user would have horrible throughput. >From: Sam Carleton <scarleton@miltonstreet.com> >To: FreeBSD Questions <freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG> >Subject: howto implement a firewall w/ outside ip/router dynamic >Date: Mon, 31 Jul 2000 22:07:28 -0400 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Received: from [204.216.27.18] by hotmail.com (3.2) with ESMTP id >MHotMailBB4F7C310061D82197BDCCD81B126F810; Mon Jul 31 19:08:53 2000 >Received: by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix, from userid 538)id AC2E337BDBB; Mon, >31 Jul 2000 19:07:52 -0700 (PDT) >Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1])by hub.freebsd.org >(Postfix) with SMTPid 9FBDB2E8192; Mon, 31 Jul 2000 19:07:52 -0700 >(PDT)(envelope-from owner-freebsd-questions) >Received: by hub.freebsd.org (bulk_mailer v1.12); Mon, 31 Jul 2000 19:07:52 >-0700 >Received: from mail2.one.net (mail2.one.net [206.112.192.100])by >hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 97A1637BDB2for ><freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG>; Mon, 31 Jul 2000 19:07:50 -0700 >(PDT)(envelope-from carleton@one.net) >Received: from ztown1-4-4.adsl.one.net ([209.50.121.4] EHLO >miltonstreet.com ident: IDENT-NOT-QUERIED [port 1775]) by mail2.one.net >with ESMTP id <362704-18516>; Mon, 31 Jul 2000 22:07:31 -0400 >From owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Jul 31 19:13:08 2000 >Delivered-To: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org >Message-ID: <398630FD.4878D7C1@miltonstreet.com> >X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.72 [en] (Windows NT 5.0; U) >X-Accept-Language: en >Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG >X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG >Precedence: bulk > >I have been using Linux as my firewall for a long time now, but I am >tired for my aDSL provider messing things up for me.
