It can cause your BIOS to crash, as has been well documented in the list
archives.  By all means, do not use DD mode unless the machine will not boot
without it.  The kernel hasn't even loaded at this point, however, the BIOS
tried to divide by 0 trying to handle the bogus geometry DD mode uses.
