No idea if this is going to fix your problems, but I noticed a new
PAN distribution turned up recently.

http://www.lovett.com/FreeBSD/news.pan.080b7.patch

will get you the patchfile..  the program still seems somewhat
unstable though, subject to some fairly random crashes :(
