I just realized that you may have meant something different. Like, how does a newbie figure out how to read the *new* release notes for a system they are upgrading from source...not read the ones that came with their distribution? He/she can either read it on the Web (as presented many times before), or look in src/release/doc/README if he/she wants to build the release documentation from scratch. I'm receptive to concrete suggestions for this file. I'd also claim that someone doing source upgrades to a FreeBSD system isn't a "newbie", or they *shouldn't* be. :-) Bruce.
