Maybe this is irrelevant, but have you had a look at the file c:\windows\lmhosts.sam This is an example file for LMHOSTS - there you can specify the IP of a host in a different subnet and after a reboot you will be able to map it from the command line (net use x: \\host\share) - you still will not be able to browse to it, however. If you have NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled in the Network settings for your Win95 machine you will not need to route anything but TCP/IP. The above is my understanding of how it can work - it may also be totally wrong...
