I have noticed that the dhclient in -stable (don't know about -current) passes
the bound socket (to port 68) to it's children. This is a big problem when you
run things out of dhclient-exit-hooks as any persistent children prevent a new
instance of dhclient from binding this port :(

I have a patch here -> http://www.dons.net.au/~darius/dhclient-coe-bug.diff

This seems to fix the problem for me.
(And probably has nasty side effects I'm not aware of :)
