Hi there, I have a Pentium 120 Mhz System with 16 Meg RAM, a PCI Cirrus 5434 video card, a Maxtor 1.620 Gig HD (3158 heads/16/63) and every single time I install FreeBSD it crashes with no mercy on me. I did the installation about 15 or 20 times, from minimum to ALL, and it starts out fine (except for messages saying "my name does not seem to exist) and so forth and so on. X under windows is the one that crashes the most. For example while running a screensaver, the machine woiuld freeze and not respond to any commands; as a consequence of that the only way to get my machine back is by turning it off and on again... Well, that makes things worse, the fsck does not find all the files and/or directories that should be there, it fixes some but does not fix others. I did the -c booting process to eliminate conflicts, fine, it eliminates the conflicts but then it does not recongnize my CDROM Mitsumi (I did not delete it) What is wrong??? I did set the disk's geometry mannually because the system would show a different geometry configuration... I am a "newbie" with unix, but people that had advised me over the net (IRC #BSD) and guided me through the process of installation step-by-step suggested that the machine is broken, but I replaced the motherboard and the same thing happens. Please send me some e-mail information on how to solvet this problem. I would love to have a TRUE 32 bit OS working for godsake.
