I'm suprised nobody mentioned this earlier, but you might want to try
getvfsbyname(3).  However it seems that the manpages are only correct if
_NEW_VFSCONF is defined (which it isn't on my system).  The correct
prototype seems to be vfsconf * getvfsbyname(char *).
