Naturally, a couple of problems have been found with 8.8.3 and 8.8.4 was
released a couple of days ago. It too compiles well, at least on 2.1.5.

I have a question about using m4 to build configuration files, though.
If I change into the cf/cf directory in the sendmail distribution,
create a file pit-viper.mc, and then run:

	% make -f Makefile.dist pit-viper.cf

I get this output from make (this is from memory, but it's close):

	rm -f pit-viper.cf
	m4 ../m4/cf.m4 pit-viper.mc > pit-viper.cf

Followed by an error message from m4 to the effect that it couldn't
find ../m4/cf.m4. But if I run the exact same commands manually,
it works.

This only happens to me under FreeBSD (not under Solaris, SunOS, HPUX,
or MkLinux). Anybody know what's going on here? I've seen it with
sendmail.8.8.{0,1,2,3,4}.
