export LIBGL_DEBUG=3Dverbose

It gives you the actual debug output you need.

The games can run, sure.  I wouldn't expect much performance out of an
i855 on a game like RTCW.  I suspect there are still performance
enhancements to be done for the i855 (need to research this), but I
don't think they would happen for a while.
