Yes there is, but this is an FAQ and there's a ton of information on
this in the freebsd-questions archives. :-)

Before you go hunting, consider that you'll have to arrange for your
users to change their passwords.  And again, consider the practical
impact of using 8 character passwords, as I mentioned in my first reply
to your original post.
