	Well, my thanks to the kind soul that replied with the incredibly 
obvious answer that kill -9 `cat /var/run/named.pid` will do what I want.  I 
think it's time for me to go to bed now.  *Sigh*

PS, the reason that I want to kill and restart it is to keep memory usage 
down.  It's not my idea to do it this way, it's the boss's. :)  Anyone with a 
better suggestion?
