I tried fixing XFree86, but there are no less than three different memory allocation abstractions (maybe more, I got lost after a while), the interrupt-handling abstraction layer makes it almost impossible to find which code handles which interrupts, and the FreeBSD OS-specific code is a complete mess. So, I decided to take the easy way out and just disable interrupts in malloc/free.
