I have assigned the PR to the port maintainer <swallace@FreeBSD.org>
who may be able to diagnose this problem further.

Looking at the PR, however, my (probably uneducated) guess is that
this is more of a CD device driver issue on your machine which
the port just happens to be showing up.

Have you tried other CD players?  Including cdcontrol(1) which
is part of the base system?
