I recently bought a copy of FreeBSD and I would like to preface my question with some words of praise for every one involved. It is a terrific piece of work every bit of the way. My question: I have set up my pc for a multiple boot between an IDE drive with DOS on it and a SCSI with FreeBSD on it, using the Easy Boot software that came with FreeBSD. Unfortunately the usage note about how to choose a boot drive flashes on the screen so briefly that I have not been able to read it. I have not been able to print it either. I would appreciate it very much if you would send me a note explaining the usage for selecting the IDE drive. General how-does-it-work question: Also I am confused about how it can select the IDE drive at all. I have to tell the CMOS setup that there is no IDE hard disk in order for the machine to boot (other than from floppy) with both IDE and SCSI drives installed. So how does the BIOS know there is an IDE drive to boot from? Does the multiple boot program tell it about the IDE drive? A possible bug: In the online manual it says that in "sort +n filename" (where n is a number) the key sorted on will be n positions offset from the first letter in each line in filename. This does not seem to work for n greater than zero. Thank you for your assistance, and thank you for FreeBSD.
